Suspect Arrested for Violating Domestic Violence Orders in Spokane County

In a dramatic turn of events, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office has apprehended a suspect for violating domestic violence orders. The incident unfolded in the Otis Orchards area near the state line, where deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. The arrest came after the suspect, who had previously threatened a "gunfight" if contacted by law enforcement, was spotted near a protected address.

Defiant Suspect Caught in the Act

Suspicious Vehicle Spotted Near State Line

On July 21, around noon, the Spokane County Sheriff's deputies received an alert about a suspicious car traveling in Otis Orchards, near the state line. Dispatchers informed the deputies that probable cause had been established for the arrest of the registered owner of the car, a black 2005 Chevy Colorado. The deputies were also made aware that the registered owner, the suspect, had previously told them that "he is not going back to jail, and it will end in a gunfight" if he was contacted.

Suspect Spotted at Protected Address

Despite their efforts, the deputies were unable to locate the car initially. However, at around 1:15 pm, a deputy observed the suspect driver of the black Colorado car, with the license plate listed on the alert, park in front of the protected address on Woodland Park Drive. A man matching the suspect's description got out of the truck and walked away, looking back at the deputy and the fully marked patrol car.

Suspect Apprehended After Tense Standoff

The deputy maintained visual contact with the suspect as other deputies responded to assist, given the suspect's previous threat of a "gunfight" if law enforcement contacted him. The suspect walked south on Jenson Road, looking back at the patrol car again. Knowing that assisting deputies were close, the deputy activated his emergency lights and approached the suspect. The deputy verbally confirmed the suspect's name and advised that he was being detained.The suspect paced back and forth and yelled in frustration, but when additional deputies arrived, he followed their commands and was safely taken into custody. The suspect was advised of his rights and admitted knowing he was not supposed to be within 1,000 feet of the protected residence.

Suspect Booked on Felony and Misdemeanor Charges

The suspect was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for the felony domestic violence order violation with an assault and three misdemeanor domestic violence violence order violations.
